Why is Tosca Cloud so visually bland compared to Tosca Commander?

I've been using both Tosca Commander (on-prem) and Tosca Cloud, and I can't help but wonder:

Why did modernization seem to mean removing all the personality from the UI?

Tosca Commander felt like the older sibling who showed up in a jewels & diamond-studded Rocketship. There was color, visual hierarchy, and clear differentiation between areas of the workspace.

Tosca Cloud feels like the younger cousin who is smart but only owns shades of gray. 🙂

Don't get me wrong, the clean, modern look has its benefits. But in large enterprise repositories, color isn't just decoration. It's a productivity tool.

A specific example is folder coloring:

  • I'm glad folder colors exist.
  • But why do I need to color every folder individually?
  • If I have hundreds of folders, this becomes a very manual process.
  • Why not have:
    • Color inheritance from parent folders? Or
    • Bulk color assignment? Or
    • Workspace-level color themes? Or
    • Rules that automatically color folders based on type or hierarchy?

I'm genuinely curious whether this was an intentional design decision and whether others feel the same way.

Am I the only one who misses the visual richness of Commander, or do other Tosca Cloud users find the current UI a bit too minimalist?

Looking forward to hearing different perspectives.
