I’m curious to learn from the community: what strategies have you found effective when working with managers who have a more authoritative or dominant approach?

How can teams maintain collaboration, stay productive, and foster a positive work environment while navigating strong personalities or high-pressure leadership styles?

I’d love to hear your experiences and tips for turning these challenges into opportunities for growth for both the team and personal development.

@pv15690 ,

An issue arises when a strong personality is in the picture, although it can result in growth opportunities. I feel that with such people, knowing clearly what their points of focus are, communicating in detail, and being proactive in offering regular updates usually pay off. From the human side of things, it is psychological safety in the workplace that cemented collaboration that is, drawing in input from members who fear no repercussions.

But the challenge is the moment in which you learn, and thereby, it strengthens the team and your leadership skills. 💡

@pv15690 ,

The best strategy would be ‘collaboration’.

You can collaborate with your manager. You can have the growth mindset.
How to do that?
Think can you help you manager solve his tactical problems. Those can be day today of short term problems.

Think how can you take some of his(her) responsibilities so that you are helping him/her.

If the manager sees you as a partner, then the approach will change (most probably).

And more importantly, the manager may behave is some manner due to many reasons- they can be pressure from top, in ability to handle stress, lack confidence in the team or by nature.

Try to understand this.
If you find that behavior is due to lack of confidence, think of improving it.
How to do that? Its a huge topic in itself !!
